Tom Ford introduces Tom Ford Black Orchid, his first women’s fragrance and the first entry in the Tom Ford Beauty collection. Tom Ford Black Orchid evokes the timeless luxury and worldly glamour reminiscent of classic fragrances from the most elegant fragrance houses.
The Fragrance
A luxurious and sensual fragrance, Tom Ford Black Orchid, with its rich dark accords and alluring potion of black orchids and spice, is both modern and timeless.
The topnote opens with a sensuous blend of Black Truffle and Ylang mingled with fresh Bergamot and delectable Black Currant.
The dramatic heart of the fragrance unfolds with the custom-made Tom Ford Black Orchid blended with dark, tempting Florals and rich Fruit Accords. The heart is deepened with the intoxicating Lotus Wood.
The decadent Noir Gourmand Accord is balanced by Patchouli, Incense and Vetiver. Vanilla Tears add a fluid creaminess to warm Balsam and smooth Sandalwood.
The Inspiration
The inspiration for Black Orchid came from Tom Ford’s attraction to the unattainable and, in particular, his fascination with finding the elusive black orchid. “To me, it is the perfect flower…luxurious, elegant, pure, sophisticated. The only problem was it didn’t exist. For centuries, orchid specialists have been searching for a black orchid but it took an expert and very patient grower in California to create the elegant hybrid that is now recognized as the only true black orchid from nature. The moment I saw it I knew it would be the signature for my first women’s fragrance.”

Top notes
The fragrance reveals itself with mediterranean hesperidic notes, lemon leaf oil, italian bergamot, mandarin zest, basil grand vest, violet leaves, and ginger.
Middle notes
the scent unfolds with unexpected floral ingredients. orange flower absolute tunisia is potently sensual. the infusion of black pepper and tobacco leaf absolute invokes a distinctive intensity. unique to tom ford for men, the grapefruit flower morocco is a flower that blooms for only three weeks per year, is collected by hand, and distilled immediately after.
Bottom notes
The final impression is rich and exotic. deep amber accord, cedarwood heart, virginia patchouli, vetiver mist and oakmoss ripen to an incandescent smokiness. leatherwood, a resin from laos that produces a rich leathery essence, adds to the warm appeal. cypriol, never before used in a fragrance, is a root from india that emits an animalic sensuality and endows the scent with its sexiness.
The packaging
The strong, clean lines of a streamlined, fluted glass bottle encase the golden translucency of the fragrance. the engraved name plaque is embellished with 18 karat gold plating and the neck of the bottle is encircled by a single gold band.
The outer packaging is weighty to the touch. the textured black carton is embellished with gold key lines, and a gold label, underscoring the elegance and sophistication of the precious contents.

The packaging for the Tom Ford Private Blend Collection is inspired by the dark brown glass coloring of the apothecary bottles used in parfumer’s work rooms. The 50ml flacon is created to be weighty in the hand and has the sleek architectural look of a chess piece. The 250 ml decanter is carved with the highest level of craftsmanship and is designed to enhance the user’s home environment. The flacons and decanters are enhanced by touches of gold on the signature labels. Cord ties with crimping and richly textured set-up boxes add a luxurious accent to this deeply original new fragrance collection.
ORIENTALS
Amber Absolute
A hallmark Private Blend fragrance. Amber Absolute is a honey colored scent infused with the purest form of amber, joined by a tenacious refrain of African incense, labdanum, rich woods and a touch of vanilla bean.
Noir de Noir
A dark chypre Oriental, this scent opens with an earthy mantle of richly woven saffron, black rose and black truffle, with hints of floralcy. Underneath, vanilla, patchouli, oud wood and tree moss soften the intensity, making the scent a sensual experience.
FLORALS
A heady floral blend of ripened black gardenia and succulent orange deepens into a heart of jasmine, rose and muguet. Tuberose blends with dark plum, honey and beeswax, finishing with a smooth accord of incense and labdanum.
Crisp citrus surrounds a modern pulpy fruit accord, fused with black violets. Woody accents fold into oakmoss adding the universally comforting sensation of warmth.
TOBACCO

WOODS
Oud Wood
An exotic rose wood and cardamom, blended with exuberant Chinese pepper, envelope the wearer in warmth. Eventually, the center exposes a smoky blend of rare oud wood, sandalwood and vetiver. Finally, the creamy scents of Tonka bean, vanilla and amber are revealed.
Purple Patchouli
This 60’s inspired floral woody fragrance opens with an elegant orchid accord and wet, succulent citrus notes. The heart blends noir leather and purple patchouli accords with exotic spices, supported by the intense depth of amber, patchouli, Peru balsam and vetiver.
Bois Rouge
This woody Oriental opens with a blend of elegant citrus and spice. The luxurious heart reveals cedarwood, patchouli, jasmine and muguet. Sandalwood, vetiver, amber and refined leather are warmed by vanilla and Tonka, adding lasting depth and texture.
Moss Breches

LEATHER
