Perfume Review: Hot Couture, Givenchy

Givenchy Hot Couture
Frasco/Bottle by Serge Mansau

Givenchy Haute Couture Purple Dress

(English Version)

Those people who have followed the last releases in perfume industry, mainly the female fragrances category, they know how the market assimilates very well fragrances which belong to the fruity floral and floral oriental families that are the most versatile olfactive ones to cover the diverse types of personality on women mainly if she is modern, glamorous, classic and/or romantic, that depends also upon ingredients and creativeness applied on mix. These fragrances have the advantage that brings, respectively, certain lightness through the combination of luminous fruity touches whose sweetness and freshness become flowers vivider, vibrantly joyful and fragrances that merge the exotic orientality of spicy, balsamic and sweet elements with the beauty of exuberant flowers.

If on one hand these fragrances families own better applicability to be worn in various occasions and also more acceptable by the consumer audience, on the other hand they take the risk of losing their credibility if the range of releases be banalized with uninnovative fragrance making and without a trustworthy marketing position that will activate the sales of a distinctive product, come what may being a smooth or remarkable perfume . Unfortunately the perfumery shelves are full of fragrances like that, simply a fruits salad in one flacon adorned by flowers for fruity florals or a commonplace flowery fragrances with the repetitive and predictable use of ordinary vanilla, amber and musk in the base.

Givenchy Hot Couture (EDP) released in 2000 and designed by the perfumer Jacques Cavallier is one of those fragrances that make the difference because it is sexy, elegant and keeps remarkable across years for any nose which has already smelt it. Givenchy joined the haute couture fashion inspiration which is, by itself, selective and luxurious and broke the apparent elite formality found in the haute couture by the audience, releasing a fragrance powerfully sensual and warm, closer to the skin as the transparency of gorgeous fabrics kissing the nude flesh.

The break of the classic formality coming from a floral oriental inspired by a Givenchy fashion was given by a mixture of ingredients, very well done and peculiar in which is valued the sensual power of raspberries erotized by the peppery accords of the black pepper, throbbing and stimulating. The berries are daring like the woman who knows the addictive power of the elegance which awakes from her own maturity in her behaviour and style, all connected to fashion and in valuing the fragrance as an acessory of her fashionable attitude.

The start of Hot Couture is hot as the purple vision of a fabulous dress covering a sculptural women's body. At the beginning, the scent has a small synthetical load as well as others Givenchy fragrances, however this chemical trail is like to stare the unusual shock brought by a haute couture piece, the obvious sensation of looking at a rare picture. The raspberries nectar liberates the delicious juicy scent arising gluttonous desires in many senses: the hunger of biting these irresistible fruits, the will of smelling them as they were the true scent of the fluid fabric of the dress, the obsessing desire of touching the purple color, feeling the sophisticated texture and reaching the fashion ecstasy.

The flowers become the berries less synthetic, however don't let them less close to the skin. The beauty of Hot Couture when magnolias bloom is the sensual combination of raspberries with the vanillic chords that exist in these flowers. Under the fragrance making's point of view, that is one more distinctive virtue which is being creativer potentializing the natural fragrant power of some flowers instead of adding others raw materials which naturally these flowers bring in their olfactive properties. Later, although the fragrance is developed into fruity floral touches with a woody and smoothly ambery base which flows from the fragrance's heart, its raspberries have a noticeable presence, addictive until the end of the fragrance development, that after become a delicate and desirable scented memory.

Hot Couture is a very unsual fragrance in comparison to its competitors and has an outstanding long lasting power on skin to the point of perfuming the clothing labeling it. The fragrance requires a remarkable personality that not properly is connected to the clothing a woman is wearing, but a personality that is remarkable because her attitude of wearing a perfume is like her own fashion, her own behaviour, her own olfactive language that is always Hot
