(English version)

Have you ever the impression that your week was not enough fragrant? Sometimes it happens. The fact is that my week was hard to sample fragrance samples to review here. It was not because I don't have them; telling it would be a big sin and also a lie, considering that there are many fragrances to be reviewed on my wishlist and I have samples here to cover a long time of work, but the true sin was my foolish hand that was not lucky to choose the most pleasant samples for my cruel nose. In fact, this experience of selection was not random because, in the bottom of my heart and also nose, I wish to test the perfumes which, naturally, are not so pleasant to me even I would prefer to sample the most fragrant to my tastes. I think that any good perfume lover and expert has to experience an olfactory chaos; this experience is amazingly valuable. It weighes on us, can bring some headaches, label us as cruel scent critics, but it is a beautiful experience, so necessary to our sensorial moments.

As a matter of a fact , during two days I decided to play with a type of "perfumes Wheel of Fortune" and I chose, now randomic, two fragrances, Pi and Chypre Fruite, respectively from Givenchy and Montale. The first Pi experience, the perfume of just one note, suffocated me during my sleep, but after the experience I only had to wash my own pillowcase using a fragrant soap cleaner, followed by an also fragrant laundry softner. Regarding to Chypré Fruité, before taking the risk of a new shot in the Wheel of Fortune, I thought that I could wear for the first time my new Rochas miniatures and maybe choose one of them for the review of the day. I smelt a little of Femme and Tocade, but immediately they were not so easy to my nose, not because of their complexity but because they are classicals and, classicals are not a natural taste of myself, then I decided to analyse them after in order to have a fantastic voyage in some decades ago.

Telling you about my dose of luck, I share that I had also fragrant moments during this week, certainly I made lovely choices, not to review them but to wear them on my skin. Most of them, floral - fruity fragrances which now fit perfectly to this warm weather that is coming to Brazil, in one more enchanting summer and also seductive; so necessary to bring a plesant and sweet athmosphere; going out with friends or only perfume myself after a relaxing shower. I had some revival moments with 212 Sexy(Carolina Herrera), the official début of my new Nina Pretty(Nina Ricci) and I enjoyed a lot wearing the warm lavender and special notes of geranium of my new Covet (SJP). Well, the week was not so bad.

After some days of appointments and almost any time to review fragrances I closed my eyes and let the luck guide me. I selected the "guy-fragrance", yes that one that would be my victim and Montale is here, again. In a strange manner, this was the first Montale that I did not like since I like some fragrances of this line, but at last, what would be about the French competitors if all of us loved only Montales? There is space for all the perfume tastes. This Montale is Chypré Fruité, a chypre frutal fragrance that features notes of bergamot, rose, jasmin, oakmoss, patchouli and tropical fruits.

The category of chypre perfumes keeps a base of chypre, in most of the cases, this base has oakmoss or tree moss which provides to the fragrance a velvety sensation, some creamy and elegant to some fragrances types as florals and oriental florals. About the chypre frutal, it is added in the "standard chypre" some fruits as peachs, pineapples, grapefruits and many tropical or exotics fruits to personalize the fragrance in the category chypre frutal. Fragrances based on chypre has a natural voluptuosidade of the women universe. Normally this base let the perfume very feminine, something that I compare to an aura that covers the woman in an earthy sensuality that, in certain way, connect her to something ethereal and refined. An example of modern chypre is the beloved For Her of Narciso Rodriguez.

In Chypré Fruité, the fragrance is fruitier than chypre. The opening of bergamot note is fast and needed, because as general rule of chypres, there is always a citrus opening as bergamot, for example, followed by a floral heart and a base that features oakmoss and Patchouli. The difference here is that the fragrance is sustained by a frutal sweetness that is annoying mainly when I think that this Montale is a niche perfume, a universe where is cultivated a less ordinary perfumery, even if it is formed by simple notes. The frutal in Chypre Fruite is the foundation of the fragrance, involved in some pineapple and peaches scents and all the miscellaneous of fruits which may have a tropical cocktail that is drunk in front of the Cannes Bay. I would say also that, even though the scent of Chypré Fruité is different and yet refined, it reminds of the tropical fruits cocktail in Miami Glow, limited edition of Jennifer Lopez.

It is interesting to notice that the heart floral notes, mainly the rose keeps some delicate effect on the perfume, exactly as a soft woman skin, comparable to the velvety rose petal. In this context, the chypre is the ideal base to lighten the fruity effect of the fragrance, providing a softness approach to Chypré Fruité development. The candied fruits warm in different accords gradations until the drydown and, even though I think these olfactory changes are the richness of this perfume, the fruity aroma is still annoying. At this instant, I imagine that, after drinking many cocktails and looking at the sea and always the sea in an imaginative Cannes, I would walk a little and take some fresh air, let the fruity alcohol disappears in my body, circulating a new blood in my veins which, I expect, does not be attacked by a diabets, a fructose intolerance. After 3 to 4 hourse, Chypré Fruité becomes a little more refined, as I would come in a elegant French Café and face a creamy fruits cake covered by a dark syrup, so dark as the patchouli notes.
This aroma still beats my nose and, although the vision of this case may cause some hesitation between going on sampling the fragrance, eating one more piece of this sur(real) cake, the perfume fades into a drydown, better light and earthy.

The luck here is that oakoss keeps some ethereal aroma on the skin and, on the same time, very palpable. This nuance also "earth" in this fragrance implies some depth to Chypré Fruité, labeling a better distinguishable scent in the entire fragrance in comparison to its opening, for that reason, the nose can be traumatized with the memory of a nose transformed in a mouth full of tropical fruits which annulate it as a nose, but the woman who wears Chypré Fruité,even she has her mouth full of fruits or drunk with some cocktails, she is still an elegant woman, not totally refined as others Montale fragrances. Maybe this woman will be in line to this fragrance, wearing some casual clothings, having a work routine and some discrete drops of Chypré Fruité or only wearing, also in a discrete way, the fragrance in a summer, warm afternoon of Cannes in a formal, but light dress.

There is an characteristic in the fragrance that is very common in others Montale fragrances which have a chypre base. The fragrance still keeps the chypre in the drydown, in an interesting isolated form, the protagonist role of the oakmoss. It is perceveid that when I think about others Montale Chypres, it is possible to suppose a trace, a magical formulation in the perfume house creations that make me think "This is a Montale!" I clap my hands to them by keeping a base of chypre and the standard configuration of a chypre fragrance and, even so, do not aniquilate the concepts of chypre frutal and chypre vanille with a strong invasion of flowers or amber, so natural in oriental chypre fragrances and that is massificated in most of chypres. I tell it because, as much Chypré Fruité as Chypre Vanillé keep, respectively, fruits and vanilla as a main character of the fragrance, a trace that would be lost. I only think that the chypreness would be stronger and better balanced.

Chypré Fruité is well-done, long-lasting, very versatile day by day and in all seasons of the year, however there is some triviality in the blending, sweet and fruity that, if you are not so interested in the discrete undertone of chypre, you can find the sweetness in cheaper fragrances and afford your money in other interesting fragrance of Montale. For my tastes, I like Blue Amber, Chypre Vanile, Red Oud and Chrystal Flowers, so Chypre Fruite is not my favorite and I think that Montale house has an huge portfolio of fragrances, but most times these mixes do not make an huge difference, within olfactory limits, to justify to pay high costs for a bottle. In my humble opinion, for a niche perfume house, it is important to keep a smaller range of products, but this range be able to cover an high level of quality and distinguishable aromas. I can be a little drunk smelling so many cocktails Chypré Fruité but I am sure that the brand line has many fragrance options, mainly the Oud Line, but only some of them mark the distinguishable work of the perfume house.

: Mitsouko, Femme e Coco Mademoiselle.

The perfume bottle is often meant to be a physical representation of the perfume. Anyway, will certainly visit your site more often now.
